This collection is the result of a two-year long research conducted by students and faculty of the American University of Central Asia to study and collect oral histories of ordinary people who lived in Soviet Kyrgyzstan in the 1930s and all the way up to the early 1960s. The goal of this research is to record and preserve time-sensitive and valuable oral testimonies about everyday life during the Stalinist period to reconstruct the public and collective history of Soviet Kyrgyzstan.
